David De Metz, now a retired lieutenant from the Claremont Police Department in Southern California, is the owner of De Metz Investigations. David specializes in conducting reliable pre-employment background investigations for law enforcement.

De Metz Investigations was started by David De Metz, a retired lieutenant from the Claremont Police Department in Southern California.  David brings more than two decades of law enforcement experience, including conducting pre-employment background investigations for all sworn, civilian, and volunteer staff positions.  These positions include police officers, reserve police officers, communication officers, jailers, police aides, records clerks, community patrol volunteers, and community emergency response team members.  Beyond conducting his own background investigations, David managed a team of background investigators and was involved in every facet of the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding process.  He also served as his agency's liaison to its human resources department.  David is a California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)-certified background investigator, a fully insured Private Investigator/Qualified Manager (PI189947), and a member of the California Association of Licensed Investigators.

David’s specialty is conducting thorough, dependable background investigations that provide agencies the information needed to make one of their most important decisions; who to hire.  Each background investigation is conducted within the legal and regulatory framework established by California POST and evaluated against the POST dimensions of moral character, handling stress and adversity, work habits, interactions with others, and intellectually based abilities.  The result is an ethically sound, trustworthy background investigation that an agency can rely on.
